Design Debate

The work of Massachusetts-based artist Mariko Kusumoto is captivating. She forms these voluminous objects out of polyester fabric. The soft spherical forms are intriguing, they make you want to reach out and touch.  Her artwork is not just sculptural but also wearable, the 3d jewellery feels quite aquatic. They create a mood and an intrigue with forms within forms, the mesh shimmers in the light. I originally found Mariko's work at Colossal .   

Introducing the intriguing fabric from Création Baumann called Eprisma . More sculpture than curtain really, these triangular sequins are semi transparent and catch the light. Made from 100% polyester the textile is available in three shades, white, bronze or black.  I favour the bronze one, especially when paired with equally angular elements of interior design. The look is one of luxury and Eprisma clearly makes a statement. I love how the fabric interacts with the light changing as the sun moves across the sky. Would you have it in your home?

I haven't done nearly as much traveling as I would like to, but I do love it. Which is strange as I always get ill, can't handle the heat and get lost easily! I guess I like the adventure. Choosing what clothes to take is can be tricky. Light-weight but beautiful and practical can be challenging. In hotter climates like last year when I visited Morocco and a few years ago when I travelled around India, proved quite a challenge.  Well today I came across Matter , just beautiful tailoring in soft natural fabric and I just love the prints. Taking inspiration from around the world while using traditional methods and reinventing traveler style, I like it.  Cool and comfortable but still very chic.   

I thought I would introduce you to Just Fab based in the South West of England providing interior design in Cornwall with a showroom in Launceston. We completed a re-brand for them last year, tweaking their logo and creating a striking colour scheme and a new bold look.  We started with their logo and I created an abstract image to complement. Next we designed their signs, our brief was simply to 'stop traffic', safely of course! But if you are driving through Launceston, Cornwall, then I promise you, you can't miss them! We also designed stationery; letterhead and complement slip as well as a beautifully bold business card.   Next came the website. Just Fab are the largest fabric and wallpaper showroom in the South West stocking some amazingly beautiful prints and textures.
