Stunning Business Cards

Image
Quite often budget can have a real effect on design. I would say from experience that a tight budget can produce some really great design work, it can push you down avenues that creates something rather special. However more money can mean more options! I just love these business cards I found, so many processes but still minimal and classy. Using one of our favourite paper manufacturers GFSmith, these cards for furniture designer Julien Hauchecorne use subtle embossing, duplex with four different foils! Just stunning. You would really make an impression handing one of these out.  With so much of a businesses presentation being online, the printed material is all the more special. The tactile nature speaks volumes, it is memorable and starts a conversation, an interaction and hopefully, a client. Nicely done.   See more .

What we've been doing

As you know I am a designer at North Cornish graphic design studio Pickle Design , and I thought you might like to see some of our recent projects.  We design pretty much everything, from t-shirts and websites to signs and menus. One of the things I love about my job is the diversity. We have clients from pretty much every field imaginable, but I must confess, projects where I can use my illustration are my favourite.  Here is a project we have just completed, well almost, we are currently designing some jam jar labels and correspondence cards. This is Lanneves Cottage Holidays, a lovely luxury self catering cottage right in the heart of Cornwall. We designed their logo, business cards and website. The website allows them to edit all text and images, add blog posts and to take online bookings. All custom designed to fit the brand we created.  Another project newly completed is this brochure for Wavehunters, a surf school right on Polzeath beach. We ...

BeauPeople

I have some of our new logo design to show you. We are about half way through on a project for a new company called BeauPeople. Our client had started a business in workforce development. The idea being to help companies have a workforce that delivers their aspirations, that works well together as a team, resolving conflicts and making the business the best it can be. We met with Fiona a couple of times to get a feel for what she was wanting to communicate. Many influences came together to create the logo. Our client loved the simplicity of Japanese design, balance and harmony. The focus also being about people was a key point to bring out. Many ideas were put forward and together we chose this design. The colour palette was important, warm colours reflecting Fiona's personality. We wanted to use a bold round font that would stand out but look modern and approachable too. We have designed a letterhead template as well as some business cards. The next step is the websi...

A visual identity that works with touch

Image
I saw this branding by Budapest-based agency Zwoelf and was really impressed. Their client, Csaba Mózes   was a professional masseur who was also blind from birth. He wanted a new visual identity that would expand his client base.  The design agency focussed on two things when creating Mózes' brand. First to create something that could in some way reflect Csaba's blindness, and second to make the outcome scannable by Csaba's fingers. An identity that was just visual would be excluding for him, so they drew on aspects of braille to make it more inclusive. What I think makes this brand special is that they take the concept further. The dots of braille are elongated symbolising how a masseuse pushes points making longer or curved movements. When Zwoelf made the presentation to their client they used clear relief paint gel so he could feel the concept. Quite brilliant I think really. It's a brand that works for ...
