Stunning Business Cards

Image
Quite often budget can have a real effect on design. I would say from experience that a tight budget can produce some really great design work, it can push you down avenues that creates something rather special. However more money can mean more options! I just love these business cards I found, so many processes but still minimal and classy. Using one of our favourite paper manufacturers GFSmith, these cards for furniture designer Julien Hauchecorne use subtle embossing, duplex with four different foils! Just stunning. You would really make an impression handing one of these out.  With so much of a businesses presentation being online, the printed material is all the more special. The tactile nature speaks volumes, it is memorable and starts a conversation, an interaction and hopefully, a client. Nicely done.   See more .

Insane Pencil Sculptures

Image
Its hard to believe that these intricate sculptures are made by a full sized human - on a pencil. Taiwanese artist Chien Chu Lee carves such detailed works of art inspired by, well, pretty much anything. From pop culture to architectural wonders. Think of the patience! Such skill and determination. He even carves the alphabet on a 0.5 mm piece of  graphite! Those refill pencils are so snappable, its quite a feat that he manages to turn these every day items into sculptures. See more at My Modern Met .

Crisp Cobalt Packaging

Image
Oo that feeling when you come across some great packaging that has really been thought through. Cobalto-17 is Portuguese gin that communicates its purity through the quality of the design. With a kind of scientific elemental edge and a lovely inky blue all brought together with beautiful printing processes.  My sister always says I fall for my own tricks, I buy one product over another even if more expensive because I love the packaging. What I have found is that a product is often superior in taste or quality if that brand has chosen to help it stand out through design. I love the whole process of purchasing a physical item. The cloth-like texture on this label and raised print is a dream for the senses.  This minimal design is just lovely and even though I don't care for gin I would happily have this bottle on my shelf!  Found at the Dieline .

Blast from the past - Star Wars

Image
Yes it may be a new year but I'm looking back, to the original Star Wars. Did any of you catch the new movie, really good! I was looking through some of my favourite blogs this morning and I came across some brilliant pictures of the original cast and crew at Miss Moss . Do head there for more but these in particular I think are great shots.  Not only does making this film look like great fun but the cast really seem like a team. The black and white shots are beautiful and its no surprise to me how Harrison Ford just looks really cool in every one. A major part of my childhood and I am so glad its back.
