Juicy Lu - delicious branding

Image
I wish Juicy Lu was located near me, not Miami! I love the idea of really good for you fast food, yummy snacks and organic beverages. The branding is perfect, full of fun, understated and brimming with rainbow colours. El Autobus are the designers behind this happy brand. The logo is very simple, hand drawn caps in a waxy pen, matched with simple illustration. The colour comes from the product, which looks proper tasty.  Fresh, unfussy and friendly - lovely branding! Daily Overview - Life from above

Image
I came across this rather lovely brand for Daily Overview today. I love the simplicity of how the designers Fleet have taken the 'D' and the 'O' and created a monogram that depicts what they do. Daily overview seeks to give us that unique experience an astronaut has when looking down on the earth in its fullness - so impressive and yet so fragile. Daily Overview focus on places and moments where humans have effected the planet, for better or worse.  The images are beautiful, almost overwhelming with detail and depth of colour. I think it is completely appropriate that the brand be so minimal and in just one colour, so as to contrast with these amazing satellite pictures.   Found via Logo Design Love .

The compositions of artist Anne Ten Donkelaar

Image
What beautiful work! With a combination of pressed real flowers and intricately cut flower pictures Anne Ten Donkelaar creates these three dimensional encased collages. The Dutch artist has such a way with composition, the delicate forms suspended on pins look fragile yet purposeful. I think one of the main reasons I admire this kind of fiddly and patient work is because I just wouldn't be able to do it.  I also love how the artist selects the colours, with compositions embracing springtime shades to the more wistful winters whites and warm blue or gold hues. What joy contained in a box!  Originally found at Automatism .

Dreaming of a Greek island home

Image
Isn't this lovely? This tranquil welcoming interior is the home of Australian author, photographer and designer Claire Lloyd and her British partner, artist Matthew Usmar. They live on the Greek island of Lesvos. I think they succeed in using just enough colour to soften the white walls and conjure that sea breeze. They also have a little guest house you can stay in and Claire has written a book about living in Greece.  I like the giant cushions which you could imagine dragging outside and lounging in the setting sun. Yep summer is nearly here!  See more at The Style Files .
