Hagar Cygler - Families all stitched up

Today I came across the work of Tel Aviv artist Hagar Cygler at Jealous Curator. I love needlepoint and especially when it has a modern twist. It has always been a personal way for a woman to express herself and show her skill, but I like how modern interpretations can become more like illustration, scribblings and drawings. 

Cygler has a series on families that I love. She layers photographs of the members (hers, friends, found) and traces the lines with her stitching. The result is a confusion, a muddle, a huddle or a hug - all things a family can be. But also beautiful and intertwined and connected. 

Her other work consists of embroidery and photography and she also has an Etsy shop where you can purchase her pause-worthy creations.
